Volunteering
at the Nanaimo Museum.

Volunteers are a very important key to the success of the museum they support staff and provide programming. Quite simply the museum could not operate without the help of the wonderful volunteers of Nanaimo. Volunteering is fun and rewarding at the museum. Volunteers receive several benefits including a free one-year museum membership, 15% gift shop discount, quarterly newsletter, regular exhibit and event information, and voting rights at the Annual General Meeting.

Volunteer Opportunities
The entry level volunteer position is Gallery Host.  This position allows new volunteers to become oriented with the museum exhibits and programs.  The trial period for volunteers is two months, at which time the volunteer and museum staff have an opportunity to discuss how the volunteer placement is going and whether it is a good fit for both parties.  At the end of the trial period, volunteers may have the option to spend time in other areas of the museum including programs and the front desk, if positions are available.
