The Initiative to
immortalize the legacies from Nanaimo's sports community was launched in 2008 and recognizes achievement in five categories - Athlete, Builder, Media, Pioneer, and Team. It is located in the Museum lobby and is free for all to see.

Nominations are accepted year-round, and the Induction Ceremonies happen every second year. The next Sports Hall of Fame Induction will be June, 2017.

2015 Wally Buono Award Ceremony

The Wally Buono Award Recepient for 2014 is Dylan Chapdelaine of the CJFL VI Raiders! We are please to host the invitation-only award ceremony here at the Nanaimo Museum this May. The Museum recently became the home of this prestigious national award thanks to an exciting collaboration with the St. Marche family and the St. Bernard Pass Charitable Foundation.
