 The Nanaimo Museum has been fortunate enough to host a variety of unique events, receptions,as well as literary and photography launchs through out the years. With exciting new opportunities to attend guest curator lectures, and participate in unique cultural events the Nanaimo Museum offers engaging and informative events for all community members. Upcoming Events

Spring Break Drop in Programs (Ages 5-12)
March 23rd - March 27th, 2015  - Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Back by popular demand, we are offering drop-in programs for children ages 5-12 during spring break.  Admission is by donation and caregivers must be present for the duration of the program.  The activities are from 1pm-4pm and will take approximately one hour to complete.  Please check back in March for more details.

Speaker Series #1 - Red Lights in Nanaimo

This presentation for adults and seniors highlights Nanaimo’s red light district on Fraser Street from the 1890s-1920s. Red Lights features historical photos and maps of Fraser Street and includes the stories of women who lived on Fraser Street in the early 1900s, the perspectives of law enforcement and possible reasons why the district no longer exists.  The presentation is 45 minutes and the cost is $10, which includes admission to the Red Lights & Roulette feature exhibit.  Pre-registration is required.

 

Wilf Hatch Drawings - Artist on Site
Saturday, April 11th, 2015  - Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Local artist Wilf Hatch is well known for his photography, but has returned to his art school roots with a collection of recent graphite sketches & drawings. The pieces span various subjects, including buildings and places important to Nanaimo. Several of his works will be displayed in our community gallery for the months of April & May, and Wilf will be on-site April 11th from 1:00pm to
4:00pm to talk about his art.
