Nanaimo Museum

The museum is wheelchair accessible.

Fall/Winter/Spring Hours:
Monday to Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Closed Sundays and Holidays*

Open Sundays November 30 - December 21 from 12pm - 4pm

Open 10am - 5pm December 22-23 & 29-30 and January 2-3

Closed December 24 - 28 and December 31 - January 1

Resume Winter Hours (Monday to Saturday 10am - 5pm) starting January 5

Summer Hours:
7 days a week, May 18 to September 1, 2014
10:00 am to 5:00 pm, daily*


The museum will be closed on Good Friday, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.

The museum will be open on Easter Monday (10am to 4pm), Victoria Day, Canada Day, BC Day, and Labour Day.


Museum Admission Rates:

Adult: $2.00

Student/Senior: $1.75
Children (5-12): $ 0.75
Children (under 5): FREE

December: Admission by donation to the food bank.

Nanaimo Bastion


 Unfortunately the Bastion is not wheelchair accessible.

Bastion Hours:
The Bastion is open to the public from International Museum Day (Sunday, May 18, 2014) to Labour Day (Monday, September 1, 2014) from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Tours are available off-season by appointment, please phone 250.753.1821 to make arrangements.

Bastion Admission Rates:
Admission is by donation.

Daily Noon Cannon Firing:
Will take place every day from International Museum Day (Sunday, May 18, 2014) to Labour Day (Monday, September 1, 2014). Ceremony starts at 11:45 am, and concludes at 12:00 noon with the cannon firing.
